Billerica, MA - Here at our corporate headquarters, we're developing a new generation of carrier-class switching equipment and software that enables service providers to deliver traditional and next-generation voice and data services over broadband networks.
Convergent Networks is seeking experienced Software, Senior Software and QA Engineers. Candidates must have strong communications and problem solving skills, a BSEE or BSCS degree and at least 3 years of demonstrated telephony and/or data networking expertise in the following areas:
- IP routing: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VoIP, TCP, UDP
- Emerging protocols: MGCP, SGCP, MEGACO, H.248, SIP, SIP-BCP-T
- Call control, signaling: SS7, ISUP, TCAP, ISDN
- ATM protocols: ATM UNI, AAL1, AAL2 BLES, VTOA
- DSP software: DTMF, MF, echo cancellation, voice compression
- Management: SQL or OODB database development, CORBA, MIB design, SNMP, CMIS/CMIP
- Telecommunications: AIN Call model, SCP, SSP, and service peripheral systems
- Softswitch technology: SIP, JAIN, Parlay, Application/Feature Servers
- Real-time programming experience
- UNIX development experience; C, C++ and/or JAVA, embedded programming experience

SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Design, develop and implement Digital Signal
Processor (DSP) based embedded voice coding software utilizing C/C++
and DSP assembly code. Develop software components to encode/decode
voice packets in various DSP development environments. Develop use
cases and flow diagrams from functional requirement specifications.
Provide in-depth analysis of complex algorithms and write highly
optimized DSP assembly code to implement these algorithms in the DSP.
Minimum requirements: MSEE or MSC AND 3 years experience in
optimization of voice coding algorithms using assembly code of target
DSP, Tone (DTMF) detection/generation algorithms and implementation,
and speech recognition algorithms.
