TGCP Interoperability Testing With Gallery IP Telephony
ICS2000 Media Gateway Interoperates Seamlessly With CAssiopeia
Softswitch In a Distributed Environment
LOWELL, Mass., November 11, 2002 – Convergent
Networks, a leading provider of cable telephony infrastructure solutions,
today announced that its ICS2000 media gateway has achieved
Trunking Gateway Control Protocol (TGCP) interoperability with Gallery
IP Telephony’s CAssiopeia Softswitch. The TGCP specification
defines communications between trunk gateways to the PSTN and Call
Management Servers (CMSs) in a cable telephony network.
“Having completed interoperability testing of the ICS2000
media gateway with Gallery IP Telephony’s softswitch, Convergent
Networks can confidently extend its IP telephony solution to cable
operators that deploy multi-vendor solutions,” said Carl Baptiste,
managing director of Marketing, Convergent Networks. “Our
support of such specifications will help MSOs seamlessly integrate
their networks to provide economical and reliable voice services
over broadband networks.”
Convergent Networks’ ICS2000 media gateway successfully demonstrated
TGCP interoperability, as well as completed two-way off-net and
on-net calls during the testing. The testing was completed remotely
to demonstrate a distributed environment – a Gallery IP Telephony
CAssiopeia Softswitch located in Israel controlled an ICS2000 media
gateway located in Lowell, MA and multimedia terminal adapters (MTAs)
located in both the U.S. and Israel.
“Convergent Networks’ completion of interoperability
testing with our CAssiopeia Softswitch not only benefits our mutual
customers, but the cable industry as a whole,” said Michael
Flitterman, Vice President, Gallery IP Telephony. “Standards
and interoperability among cable vendors is key to providing cable
providers with a means to deploy best-of-breed technologies to develop
VoIP networks that are open and highly-scalable.
An integral component of Convergent Networks’ cable
telephony solution, the ICS2000 media gateway delivers industry-leading
density and high availability. Other components include the SS7 signaling gateway,
tandem proxy and element management system. The solution is based on PacketCable specifications,
including TGCP,
DQoS, Event Messaging, ISTP and Security. In addition, the solution supports SIP capabilities,
allowing integration with a variety of advanced messaging and business applications.
